Rebecca Gratz to Maria Gist Gratz - February 19, 1820

Rebecca writes to her sister-in-law Ann, expressing her excitement about welcoming her for the first time in Philadelphia. She also offers Ann options for the family's sleeping arrangements and gives updates on other family members.

Rebecca informs her brother Ben that a doctor has pronounced their brother Jo to be very sick and hopes Ben can visit them soon.

Writing to her sister-in-law Ann, Rebecca tells her of her son's reaction to the death of his infant brother and of the life and writings of the Scottish poet Anne Grant who corresponded with some of Rebecca's friends.

Mary Boswell, Ben Gratz's warden, writes a quick note to Rebecca about her and her stepmother's summer plans. Ben adds a few lines to his sister informing her of the health of the family, including their new-born daughter, and expressing his wish that she come for a visit.

Rebecca writes to her sister Rachel about her delayed return home due to weather and their sister's Richea's post-partum struggles and recovery.
