Rebecca writes to her friend Maria about the unhappiness of Maria's step-daughter, Ann, with living in Philadelphia, and discusses the situation with domestic servants and the death of a mutual acquaintance.

Rebecca writes to her brother Ben, thanking him for his recent visit to Philadelphia. She also tells him of the Hebrew poetry lectures attended by the family and updates him on the health and visits of others.

Rebecca tells her sister-in-law Maria of her first meeting with her nephew's newborn son, Gratz Moses, alludes to disruptions at the first national Whig convention, and suggests to discuss passages of scripture together. Her niece Sara adds a note with regards to Maria and her family.
