Rebecca Gratz to Benjamin Gratz - September 06, 1812

Mary Boswell, Ben Gratz's warden, tells Rebecca of her life in Kentucky and relates news of family and friends. She also expresses her wish to see Rebecca again.

Rebecca tells her friend Maria about the deaths of acquaintances, updates her on the health, wellbeing, and whereabouts of other joint friends and relatives.

Rebecca informs her brother Ben of the recovery of their sister Richea and discusses the impending marriage of their nephew, Simon Gratz Moses. Their brother Jacob also tells him about their sister’s and his own health improvements.

Slowey tells Rebecca of her dismay at the misunderstandings between them and informs her what she plans to do on the Thanksgiving holiday.

Rebecca continues her exchange with her friend Margaret (Peggy) about their letter-writing pact and reflects on both their family situations.

After a visit from her sister-in-law Maria and Maria's sons, Rebecca writes to her in hopes that they have arrived safely at home. She also updates her on the health, travels, and deaths of family and friends.
