Rebecca writes her friend Maria with news of Eliza, Maria's sister, and her medical treatment. She also details the scandal around a renowned cleryman and his intended marriage to a much younger woman.

Rebecca opines to her sister-in-law Maria on the latest fiction, lists the poetry her niece Sara is currently reading, and updates her on the health of family and friends.

This is a Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) greeting card sent in September 2012 by Michael Oren, then Israel's Ambassador to the United States, and his wife, Sally, to Professor Elie Wiesel and his wife, Marion. The card features the seal of the State of Israel and pre-printed greetings in English ("Wishing you a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year") and Hebrew ("Shanah Tovah U'Metukah"). The Orens added a personal, handwritten note expressing their "deepest wishes" and signed "Michael & Sally." Below the pre-printed names, there is another handwritten Hebrew phrase, "לשנה טובה תכתבו ותחתמו" (May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year). The item includes the original envelope, postmarked September 24, 2012, from Washington, D.C., with the return address of the Embassy of Israel.
